PetSmart has agreed to pay $1.46 million to settle a civil action accusing the retailer of charging customers a higher-than-advertised price for items, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office announced Friday. The action, brought by prosecutors in seven California counties including San Diego, alleged the company engaged in false advertising and unfair competition. PetSmart's media relations department did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday afternoon. Advertisement The San Diego County District Attorney's Office said in a news release that PetSmart cooperated during the investigation, and put into place new policies and procedures to improve its accuracy in pricing.
