Thinking of packing up for Southern California to escape the Bay Area's sky-high rents? Not so fast. Home rental prices in the San Diego area are now more expensive than in the San Francisco metro, according to a new report by home listing site Zillow. And Los Angles isn't far behind. The typical monthly rent for available apartments, condos and single-family homes in San Diego hit $3,175 in June. That's compared to $3,168 across San Francisco and the East Bay. San Jose remained the priciest major market in the country, with a median rent of $3,411.
